Version 1: It is within the Superstition Mountains that Jacob Waltz had discovered an abandoned storehouse of gold, left by the Peralta family of Mexico who were killed by the Apache at what is now called Massacre Grounds. This storehouse has come to be known as The Lost Dutchman Mine.
